🏏 How Many Times CSK Won IPL?
In the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Chennai Super Kings is one of the most successful teams. Chennai Super Kings have been widely regarded as a team everyone wants to beat for the longest time, led by MS Dhoni in every edition. However, CSK has not won the IPL ever more than once. In the past eight years, CSK has reached eight IPL finals and won four IPL titles. Last year, they were beaten by 27 runs by Kolkata Knight Riders in the final of the IPL 2021.
Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers narrowly beat Chennai Super Kings in the first two IPL editions. The team broke the jinx in 2010 by becoming winners, which was followed by another victory in 2011. After finishing third in 2014, they had finished as runners-up once in 2012 and once in 2013. During their two-year ban in 2016, the Chennai Super Kings faced a turbulent time. Their return to the IPL in 2018 was, however, spectacular. A first-ever playoff berth failed to be earned by CSK in 2020, their worst season until then. However, they won the fourth championship in 2021.

CSK did not relent in the tournament even in Abu Dhabi. They finished second on the table to qualify for the playoffs. They easily defeated Delhi Capitals in the first qualifier. When their management was found to have been involved in spot-fixing during the IPL 2013, things got worse after they were banned for two years in 2016. Experience is everything when it comes to Dad’s army. CSK’s IPL victory in 2018 may have been destiny in some way. Each of their games had an X-factor. Whether it was Dwayne Bravo against Mumbai in the first game or Watson on the final day, CSK always stood up.

🏏 What is the number of IPL titles KKR has won?
Since the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has made its presence felt in the league. Known worldwide as the Kolkata Knight Riders, the team is co-owned by Shah Rukh Khan. This provides the team with a strong Bollywood connection. Gautam Gambhir captained KKR to two IPL titles – both in 2012 and 2014. KKR started the tournament slowly, but ended up winning two of them.
The IPL was transformed into a glamorous event the moment KKR entered. In the opening match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Brendon McCullum scored an unforgettable 158 runs. On the other hand, the Kolkata franchise experienced a downhill slope thereafter.
In IPL 2008, Kolkata Knight Riders placed sixth, in 2009, 2010, and 2011. Despite having all the top players on their side, they were never able to string together a good team. In this post, we review two seasons in which Kolkata Knight Riders won the title.
🏆Their IPL 2012
The Kolkata Knight Riders had another dominant season in the fifth IPL. This was a team unlike any other, with a mixture of youth and experience. Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and Rajasthan Royals were two of Kolkata Knight Riders’ successive defeats to start the season. After falling in their first match, they won nine out of ten after that. KKR used Eden Gardens as their fort, and they started winning game after game. Delhi Daredevils finished second in the group, just ahead of Kolkata Knight Riders.
After a strong all-around show in Qualifier 1, they defeated Delhi by 18 runs to qualify for the final. Chennai Super Kings faced Kolkata in the final, and few gave Kolkata a real chance after they batted first and scored 190/3. Meanwhile, Manvinder Bisla and Jacques Kallis were mulling over other possibilities. 136 runs were added by the second wicket stand in just 82 balls to propel Kolkata Knight Riders forward. Manoj Tiwary and Shakib Al Hasan remained calm during the chase and helped the team reach the target.
An unknown entity on the international stage, Sunil Narine, created wonders for them. In 15 appearances, he took 24 wickets, making him the second-best wicket-taker. However, his 5.47 economy rate stood out. As a result, Narine was rightfully named Player of the Series. With 590 runs in 17 innings, Gautam Gambhir finished as the competition’s second-top scorer.
🏆Indian Premier League 2014
Kolkata Knight Riders didn’t have a great 2013 season, but things changed again in 2014. Suddenly everything seemed to be working in Kolkata’s favor. IPL champions had a very similar season to their 2012 season.
Kolkata finished second on the points table at the end of the league stage. The team then faced Kings XI Punjab at Eden Gardens in Qualifier 1. The stars of the show here were Robin Uthappa and Umesh Yadav. For the second time this season, KKR won by 28 runs and qualified for the IPL final.
M Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium was hosting the final, meaning plenty of runs would be scored. Wriddhiman Saha went on to score 115* off 55 deliveries as Punjab compiled 199/4. Kolkata came out all guns blazing when the target would otherwise have been overwhelming.
IPL champion Kolkata lifted the trophy for the second time under the leadership of Manish Pandey, who scored 94 off 50 balls for Kolkata.
