Initially, it was decided that Australia was going to be the host nation.  But later India got the chance to host the tournament in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. Everyone was waiting for the epic moment that won the T20 world cup 2020. In this world cup, Australia became the winner by surprisingly defeating New Zealand. Australia won this trophy for the first time in the history of the T20 world cup. In the whole series, Babar Azam from Pakistan scored the maximum runs.  

He scored 303 runs all total in the tournament. Wanindu Hasaranga from Srilanka got the maximum no of wickets i.e 16. David Warner from Australia was a player in the series. 

The tournament went on from 17 October to 14 November. Kane Williamson was the captain of New Zealand. Aron Finch was captain of the Australian team. Mitchell Marsh from Australia was the player of the match in the final match against New Zealand. His performance in the final match was stunning and he scored 77 runs off just 50 balls which has helped Australia to win the match.

The final match was held at Dubai International stadium. In the toss, Australia was the winner of the toss and chose to bowl.
